does weight lifting stunt your growth or even become shorter??
im asking this because ive heard that the reson people need so many hours of sleep a day is because when there lying down it takes the stress off your spine which helps you grow because when your standing all day gravity puts pressure on your spine….
so if standing alone all day can essentially effect your growth, wouldnt weightlifting, especially squatts(where there is an extra 200+ pounds on your back), drastically effect your spine from growing?? it only makes sence that if too much gravity throughout the day is bad for your spine what would a couple extra hundred pounds do?
and i have been a weight lifter for a few years now, im 21 and bout 5:11 everyone thought i would be taller cause my dad is 6:1 and my mom is my height. and i just want to know if my weighting a few times a week will cause me not to grow anymore
Your height is fine, and close enough to that of your parents to be in normal range. Doubtful that weightlifting had any effect on it. Yoga lengthens the body you have by leading to great posture, as does swimming. Both are good for overall strengthening and symmetry, and injury prevention. Good luck!!
