Insanity Workout For Tennis?

I am a pretty well physically fit, because I run in gym everyday and practice hard on court after school. I have good form on all strokes, the only weakness would be my confidence at times. I feel like my fitness is what is keeping my game back. I have been looking at the P90X, but then switched my view onto Insanity. Has anyone completed this workout? I want to buy it, but I would like some feedback on it first.

P.S. I have looked at the websites, and reviews. I would like your honest opinion on this program.

Tim,

I have done both P90X and Insanity. They are both great programs – but both different systems.

I will start with Insanity since that is what you are leaning to right now. If you are already in good shape then Insanity would probably be good for you. I did P90X twice before attempting Insanity.

Insanity is pure cardio!!! It is mostly done in Interval Training where you will push yourself to the max for around 3 minutes and then get a 30 second break. Most of the workouts are similar in the fact that you have about a 10 minute warmup (the warmup is tough just by itself). Then about 30 -40 minutes of the Interval cardio.(depending on which month you are in) So the total workout time is around 45 minutes for the first month and then 55 minutes for the second month. The workouts are full of squats, lunges, pushups, jumps, suicide drills, jumping jacks, basically anything you can do to your body and be doing cardio. You are encouraged to stop for breaks when you need them; the people on the video frequently stop too. There is also a cardio recovery workout which you will do about once a week, that is not as intense, but will still make you work. Cardio core & balance is a lot of stretches and good work for your core. And then there is cardio abs which is a 16 minute ab routine that will work your abs like crazy.

All of the strength moves that you do are using your body for resistance. There are a ton of pushups in almost every workout just done in different ways. This way you don’t need to buy any additional equipment!

One of the biggest changes I noticed in me after doing Insanity was my anaerobic stamina. I started running shortly after finishing Insanity and I will be running my first ever marathon this Sunday. There is no way I could have done that before p90x or Insanity. I will definitely get your body ready for tennis. You will be like Andre Agassi – able to go 5 sets – after Insanity.

Just for comparison – P90X is also a great program. It will help you build lean muscle. The workouts are longer, basically 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours each day for 3 months instead of 2 months. The workouts are great though. You will mix strength training with cardio and will be able to track your progress each week. That is one great thing about P90X is you see results every single week. This made is so easy to stick with the program.
