I’m thinking about being a personal fitness trainer…can someone help calm my nerves?
Im a junior in high school, and my school is choking us with ideas and decisions about making future plans. At first I was going to “settle” for being a nurse. Dont get me wrong I could do it. Im a high honors student, very bright. I was selected out of 140 people to attend the nursing program at vocation school (which only offered 40 spots) I turned them down, I’m not sure if i wanted to be a nurse.
On the other hand. I run cross country, life weights, I love exercise and try to promote exercise and weight loss. So a friend brought it up for me to be a personal fitness trainer, and open my own gym. It sounds like something I would never regret, and love doing every day of my life. I looked at him dumbly though becuase I have no idea on what I need to do to become a personal trainer, what the wages are, and how risky it is to own a gym?
WELL….deciding on a life career can be stressful on anyone. Sometimes, it takes YEARS to find out what someone wants to be. Don’t stress too much about it…the important thing is that you enjoy life while you have one.
As for being a personal trainer…depending on what area you live in, they make pretty good money. You can start by working on your own and getting your own client list going. Depending on the area, once again, you can make $40-$80+ an hour. As for the gym…open one that people will REALLY like…for example, an all women’s gym (not like curves, but like a 24 hour fitness with women only). There’s so many women out there that don’t like working out in front of guys…I’m sure you’re business will do good. And offer child care…monthly specials…raffles…keep people interested and keep the enrollments going.
