Exercise improve my fitness?

I use the following technique to improve my fitness that I read on a magazine:
Week 1: 1 min Jog, 1 min run 50% strength, a little 30 sec rest then 75% power run, 100% strength run for 30 sec x 3
Week 2: All same, 100% run 30 sec x 6

The problem is I have to work really hard to keep up with the schedule that I mentioned above. I get very weary when I reach the 75% part. I really have to work my way through to reach the end of the program. And after that my legs soar. And I drain out of energy as well? What could be the solution. I really need some help on this!

Do you have time to do a 20 minute jog instead of this workout? If you are just starting running, this is a bid hard core.

When you are comfortable running three miles at a decent pace, then I would suggest trying this workout. To improve your fitness, just do some continuous runs.
